Child Protection Practices with Families Experiencing Domestic Violence

  1. Upon successful completion of this learning module, participants will be able to:
    • Identify and differentiate between the guiding principles and desired outcomes for CPS cases that involve domestic violence.
    • Identify the steps in preparing a family assessment.
    • Apply practice recommendations for assessing an alleged victim.
    • Apply practice recommendations for assessing an alleged perpetrator
    • Explain safety planning with adult and child victims
  2. Please go to http://www.childwelfare.gov/pubs/usermanuals/domesticviolence/domesticviolenced.cfm and read Chapter Four of “Child Protection in Families Experiencing Domestic Violence”, a web document published by the Department of Health and Human Services, Children’s Bureau, in the Child Welfare Information Gateway.
  3. Return to this site and take the exam. You must pass the exam by answering 8 of the 10 questions correctly in order to receive 3 CEUs.
